Our Mission

The Howard Avenue Art Incubator is a collaborative arts community dedicated to nurturing the artistic, personal, and professional growth of artists in order to enhance the quality and reach of the visual and performing arts in Montgomery County and beyond.

To accomplish this mission, we propose to:

• Help emerging artists become more comfortable with showing their art while offering the more experienced artist and artisan the opportunity to grow as a an artist, artisan and professional.

• Become a sustainable, for-profit business that operates as a social venture, supporting our members and serving the wider community.

• Provide a haven where members can gain feedback and guidance from peers, jurors, curators and collectors in order to grow and develop as an artist or artisan.

• Encourage the development of a stronger, more vibrant arts community in historic Kensington, Maryland.

• Use Art as a Catalyst to support meaningful family programming and arts programming in the public schools.

The members of the Howard Avenue Art Incubator believe that all stakeholders in the arts -- emerging artists, professionals, families, the schools, residents, employers – are essential to the success and growth of the arts community as a whole. It is our goal to engage each of these in multiple ways as a means to enrich arts community in Montgomery County.

Ronny Tabeka's Story - A Testimonial

Ronny is a painter from Israel who showed his work as part of one of the Incubator's first gallery shows. Because of how succesful he was, we asked him if he could sit down with us and go through his process. You can read a summary of that conversation below - it is a great testimonial to how a show at the Incubator can be a great success and he has some great general advice for anyone trying to show and sell their artwork.
